Anything For The Team: Pro Soccer Player And His Club Are Being Investigated For Having His Twin Brother Assume His Identity, Play Matches As Him
[Source] - A top-flight football club in Romania is under investigation after reports have emerged that they have fielded an ineligible player - with his twin brother masquerading in his place instead.
As reported by Marca, Edgar Ie, 30, is alleged to have made his sibling play five games for the Romanian side pretending to be him.
Suspicions started to come to the forefront when Edgar Ie did not speak English, only Portuguese, even though he has played in the Netherlands, Spain, and France.
According to Romanian journalist, Emanuel Rosu, the club asked the player in question to provide his driving license to prove his identity.
However, he refused, which has only seen suspicions grow stronger.
Hell yes. It's been far too long since we had one of these twin plays for the other twin stories. This is always something I assume happened. I remember that being a talking point with the Morris twins in Pennsylvania high school basketball. They are identical, wore 41 and 42 in high school, nothing really could tell them apart besides the number. If one was having a good game but in foul trouble everyone brought up a rumor of them trading jerseys at halftime. Now we're talking about pro soccer over in Romania and a team being potentially docked points.
Assuming this is all true, you gotta come up with a better plan. There were too many giveaways here, notably the lack of English speaking and refusing to show a drivers license. Just take the other guys license, we've all used a fake before. Feel like you can say 'oh I didn't realize I grabbed his by accident' if you get caught. Regular twin mixup shit. I mean I admire the fact they are quite literally willing to trade lives in order to help the team. That's the sort of heart you can't teach, they just need to clean up their strategy.
I need to know how much this truly happens too. This is far from the first or last time. But I need more twins to come forward with their story and not the creepy shit twins do. I'm talking strictly sports here. Who takes on the other ones identity to play a few minutes or few games for whatever reason. It's probably what you should do as a twin if you're good enough. Like I said though, can't make rookie mistakes like the drivers license deal. That's day 1 twin identity stuff.
